FAQ
1. What is digital business?

Digital business is the selling of products and/or services through electronic channels such as the Internet and a variety of other networks.

2. What kind of job would I be qualified for upon completion of a Master's Degree in Information Technology Management?

The Master's Degree in Information Technology Management prepares individuals to take on managerial positions in organizations involved in technology and digital business. Nearly every aspect of a business is effected by the phenomenon of e-commerce. Whether your career orientation is technical or non-technical, you will be in high demand with training in electronic commerce. According to Information Week (April 26, 1999) "...the Internet is one of the hottest areas of IT management." And IT salaries continue to grow, especially in areas such as Enterprise Resource Planning, data mining, and the Internet as the paucity of IT skills persist.

3. When are the courses offered?

All courses for this program are offered in the evenings or on Saturdays.

4. How many credit hours are required for the degree? And how long will it take me to complete the degree?

In addition to foundation courses which are determined for each applicant individually (based upon their background and training), the degree requires 33 semester credit hours. It will take approximately 1-2 years of full-time study (9 hours per semester) and 2-3 years of part-time study (6 hours per semester) beyond the foundation courses to complete the degree.

5. What foundation courses would I need to complete?

If you have no programming background, you must take two semesters of programming. In addition, you must demonstrate knowledge in areas such as Economics, Marketing, Management, statistics and college algebra. If you have not taken courses in these areas at the undergraduate level or have no work experience in these areas, we will require you to take a foundation course in each of these areas. Also, every candidate must complete ECM 701 (Introduction to e-commerce) which is a 2-hour course.

6. Do I need to know computer programming or have programming experience for any of these classes?

Yes, if you have no programming experience, you will be required to complete 6 semester hours of programming. We recommend taking CSC 221 and 222 at Creighton University. Equivalent courses can also be taken elsewhere.

7. Can I get credit for related work experience? And if so, how do I go about doing this?

Any work-related experience can only be applied towards satisfying foundation knowledge course work. Once we have all of your application material, we will evaluate your credentials and inform you of the work-related experience credit you may receive.

10. Is it possible to do an internship in ITM?

Yes, we have an internship program in the college. Ample opportunities exist to intern in information technology management.
